Many eye hazards lurk when you tackle home projects or chores. U.S. government experts estimate that more than 125,000 household eye injuries requiring medical attention occur yearly. Sources of these injuries include chlorine bleach and various cleaners, polishes, pesticides and herbicides. At least 90 percent of these injuries are preventable through use of safety goggles.

While prescription safety glasses may protect your eyes during some tasks, they aren’t made to protect the sides of the eyes. Many safety goggles are large enough to fit over prescription frames.
